July 11 NORWICH Conn Onward through the Fog

NORWICH, Conn. -- As an event, it will be one talked about in these parts for a long time. As a baseball game, there was scarcely anything to talk about at all.

The Eastern League All-Stars, which converged on Dodd Stadium, tonight, were shrouded by fog, forcing cancellation of the mid-season classic.

“What next, locusts,“ asked Defenders President Lou DiBella in wonderment. “The plague? It would have been better if it was a gorgeous night. But it’s a lot better than sitting in the pouring rain. We held off the rain, but who would have thought that the fog would be so thick that we‘d have to separate it with our hands.”
